Products that Reduce Nitrogen and Phosphorus Run-off

Next to Phosphorus, Nitrogen is the most important nutrient that contributes to algae growth in our water bodies.

Too much nitrogen run-off from agricultural use and wastewater is the main cause of problems in the Oslofjord, leading to algal blooms and growth of moss, which kills seaweed and kelp.

BioVital has the right to sell products that are primarily developed to reduce sludge, phosphorus, and sulfur dioxide in wastewater treatment plants. Nevertheless, internal tests conducted in Norway reveal that the product can also reduce nitrogen content in three different water and wastewater plants by 60%, 72%, and 87%, respectively.

As these products have been used for purposes other than nitrogen reduction (sludge, fat, phosphorus, etc), there are no specific tests that we can refer to. However, it can be assumed that these products are effective at considerably reducing the nitrogen level from wastewater plants.

New Improved Product
BioVital has, in partnership with its supplier, developed an improved and specialized variant of our product that is designed to reduce nitrogen in water. We are now testing to determine the optimal dosage. The total reduction of nitrogen will also be documented by a third-party and that data can be made available to interested parties.

It has been determined that this product will comply with the EU requirements by reducing nitrogen content by 80-90%.

This product can be added to existing municipal and private wastewater treatment sites to reduce the water nitrogen content. The product can enable municipalities, and thus citizens, to save money on developing new wastewater treatment sites that meet EU requirements. Thus, in this market alone, there exists massive savings.
